Following the successful commissioning of Fish Tales by Grimsby Jazz in 2016, Josie and Pat wrote Fish Tales for Juniors, a story and songs for Key Stage 2 children which was performed with 2,000 children at Grimsby Auditorium in July 2017. The story explores fishing in Grimsby across 100 years and looks to what the future might hold for the area and its young people now that fishing has ended. The songs evoke the history, superstitions and hopes of the community. The book and CD are available to purchase from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fish-Tale-Story-Children-McCarthy/dp/0995728410
Workshop: The team can offer your school a Fish Tales workshop (including resource pack) in which KS2 children will have the opportunity to explore history and heritage through drama, storytelling and music. Workshops are of approximately 2 hours duration for a maximum of 30 children. The workshop requires a decent sized space: ie school hall for effective delivery.
In 2018 Josie and Pat wrote A Woodland Story a story and songs for Key Stage 1 children which was performed at Grimsby Auditorium in March 2018.The story is from the point of view of a group of feisty children who work together to save their favourite woodland from being destroyed by road developers. The songs are available to hear on a specially created Youtube channel as well as available to purchase with the book from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Woodland-Story-Songs-Children/dp/0995728437/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1533552952&sr=1-1&keywords=a+woodland+story+josie+moon

In July 2018 Josie, Pat and the Grimsby Jazz Projects Team delivered a series of song writing and performance workshops for Key stage 2 and 3 pupils across several schools in NE Lincs exploring issues around transition. Young people were encouraged to work together to discuss and creatively express their feeling about moving on to ‘top school’ as many of the children referred to it. The result was 24 original songs from the point of view of young people embarking on that challenging process of moving on.
The team offers workshops for schools in which children are encouraged to explore their ideas for songs and work together to produce lyrics and ideas for melody that are then worked on with professional musicians. Workshops are suitable for KS2 and 3 pupils with an interest in music and creativity. They do not need to be able to play an instrument to take part. Workshops can be offered over a series of weeks for the best outcome but can take place over a morning or afternoon if preferred. Maximum of 25 pupils per group. We need a large space plus breakout space for smaller groups to work
